His ability to be such a normal person means that one of his greatest assets is that people underestimate him time and time again. Eisler explores the paradox of being lonely in a big city and how belonging to two cultures is the same as belonging to none.
Trying to end his career as an assassin-for-hire, Japanese-American John Rain goes underground only bagry be approached by nemesis and Japanese FBI agent Tatsu to eliminate a sociopathic killer who could tip the balance of power in Japan towards the mafia. He thinks he can get out of the “assassination game” alive and unfettered. Its setting the scene for team interactions, but whose team will he choose?? Having created a new identity, he is disappointed to be roped back into doing the company’s business, as lucrative as it is.
There are no discrepancies in Eisler’s work. Refresh and try again. The second John Rain book, it was slow getting started, but really took off about a third of the way in, with the customary violence and some extra romance.
You read about subway stations, train stations, streets, the characters use japanese expressions which are then translated to english. The plot was more interesting, and resolved one of the threads from the first book.

He’s intelligent, appreciates fine things and is a connoisseur of cuisine, single malt Scotches and beautiful women. His ruthlessness really is just practicality without feelings. I could accurately be labeled a ‘gorehound’ when it comes to movies.

I have read gobs of scenes in Bargy disclosure: But that didn’t matter; John Rain is such an intriguing character and the books have such a strong sense of place in Japan that I just kept on devouring the book.
